Hurricane Sally made landfall in Alabama on Wednesday, bringing heavy rains and wind speeds up to 100 mph. According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Sally is now a Category 2 storm and is moving at only 5 mph. The hurricane serves as a threat to states surrounding the Gulf of Mexico, including Alabama, Florida, and Mississippi. The NHC website warns that, “Historic and catastrophic flooding, including widespread moderate to major river flooding, is unfolding along and just inland from west of Tallahassee, Florida, to Mobile Bay, Alabama.”
