On Friday,  during all advisories, it was announced that Champe will be installing new guidelines dealing with technology. The overall goal of the restrictions is to limit the usage of personal devices by students unless authorized by teachers or administrators.

“I think it should be the students choice of how they use their technology,” senior Ken Cheng said, “personally, with my tinnitus, I need music to pay attention so I feel like the new rule is too restricting for students.”

Expressed by a “stoplight” type system, teachers will be able to choose the amount of freedom their students have to use their devices throughout the class time.

If shown on green, students will have full access to devices and technology whenever it is desired, yellow will allow usage with teachers discretion, and red will not allow devices at all unless using them for academic purposes.
