One of Champe’s most talented swimmers, Sam Oliver, has been named by USA Swimming as 78th in the world on the 18& under list in the 1500 meter Freestyle with a time of 15:48.94.
“When I first found out I was a little bit confused because I didn’t know it was a thing and was a little surprised because I didn’t think I would be on it,” Oliver said, “after looking at it though, I wish I swam a little faster so I could have been higher on it.”
When an individual is placed on this list, not only do they receive recognition from people, colleges, and other competitors, but it puts them in the running for elite international swimming competitions, which has been a goal for Sam for quite some time now.
Oliver is halfway finished with his senior year at JCHS and is planning on attending Auburn University to continue his swimming career in the SEC. The Champe family wishes Sam the best of luck as he finishes his final high school season as well as in the future.
