China’s Mystery Boxes Take a Dark Turn

Mystery boxes have become a huge trend among many countries and retailers. Stores as big as Target and Michaels have been selling “mystery boxes” with unknown products for less money than what is valued inside. They create a fun experience and are perfect for those who love to try new things. A company in China, however, has taken the concept a bit too far. Earlier this week hundreds of boxes were discovered with live puppies and kittens trapped inside. The sound of crying baby animals echoed throughout the building. Some of the animals were sealed up to the point where they were no longer living. The Chinese government doesn’t seem to be doing a whole lot about this, which is frustrating to many. Animal activists have stepped in. This has called on China to create better animal protection laws and the world is shocked by this discovery.
