The United States is finally seeing a drastic decline in Covid-19 cases following vaccinations across the country. For over a year, the United States has struggled with dealing with rising Covid-19 cases due to a lack of treatment, social distancing enforcement, and the turning of a deadly pandemic into a political agenda. However, things are finally looking up as the United States averaged fewer than 40,000 cases per day in the past week. This is a 21% improvement in comparison to the week prior and it is the first time in nine months that the daily average has fallen below 40,000. Additionally, in 37 states, new cases declined and nearly state is headed in the right direction.
When looking at Covid-19 related deaths, the United States is currently at the lowest level of deaths since July of last year. This is allowing hospitals to finally have more space since Covid-19 related hospitalization is finally decreasing. This decrease can likely be attributed to the large number of United States residents getting the vaccine. It is reported that 107 million Americans have gotten both doses of either Moderna or Pfizer and 99.7% of hospitalized Covid-19 patients are unvaccinated. As the vaccine opens up to more age groups, those living in the United States can be hopeful in returning to normalcy soon.
