Back in January of 2020 Meghan Markle and Prince Harry decided to step back from their duties as royals. Recently in an interview with Oprah Winfrey the couple unpacked their reasoning behind the controversial decision. One of the major reasons brought up by Meghan was the aspect of privacy. She talked about how she felt violated many times and she believes everybody deserves some respect of privacy. She said she knew what marrying a royal would entail, but the degree of invasion was much more than she imagined. Another concerning subject that was brought up was about race and the concern the royal family had about Megan’s child being “too dark.” The queen has since come out and falsified these claims.
