Texas Governor Ends Covid Mask Mandate

On Tuesday, Texas state Governor Greg Abbott announced he was lifting the mask mandate although health officials warn against it. Furthermore, he also announced that businesses are allowed to open 100% starting on March 10. The governor claimed that too many people have been sidelined from employment opportunities and too many small business owners have struggled with their bills and its time for it to end. Abbott thought this was the best decision as cases have been dropping across the state; however, health experts are worried this could lead to a surge. Furthermore, only 10% of Texans are currently vaccinated, so this decision can do more harm than good. Many are also concerned because with this free ruling, many are going to be put in danger. Additionally, instead of working together as a nation to end the pandemic, Texas has taken matters into its own hands and it can be dangerous.
