This past sunday, the United States hit the 500,000 lives lost mark 5 times the low estimate of 100,000 lives at the beginning of the pandemic.

Very early on large cities like New York and Chicago were hit with high numbers of cases and then hot spots popped up in nursing homes and meat packaging plants which then spread to suburban and rural communities. The virus is still continuing to spread all across the United States.
