Evan Thomas was a 26 year old man attending a baby shower last Saturday, sadly that baby shower ended in the loss of his life. The friends and family of the happy couple built a cannon loaded with colorful gunpowder to reveal the gender of the baby to the party guests, however when the cannon went off the explosion caused the cannon to fracture. When it cracked it sent a piece of the metal side flying into the air, that piece of metal happened to hit Mr. Thomas, who was standing 10-15 feet away from the cannon. This isn’t the first time a gender reveal has led to tragedy, we’ve seen wildfires, plane crashes, and even deaths from these seemingly safe parties. Couples are being encouraged to skip the elaborate displays and opt for something more simple, such as cutting a cake.
