Bernie Sanders went viral on social media after arriving to Wednesday’s inauguration wearing a practical coat and mittens compared to other outfits at the event.
Sanders’ mittens were given to him by Jen Ellis a second grade teacher from Vermont who takes wool sweaters and makes them into wool, fleece lined mittens. The photo of Sanders’ has gone viral and has been photoshopped into many scenes such as the New York subway, sitting under the sorting hat in Harry Potter, and many other places. Since the photo went viral Ellis has received more than 12,000 inquiries but stated that the mittens are no longer for sale.
