Olivia Rodrigo’s Debut Single Tops the Charts

High School Musical: The Musical: The SeriesĀ star, Olivia Rodrigo, recently released her debut single, “Driver’s License”. This weekend, just two days after its release, the song reached number one on Spotify’s U.S. chart, Apple Music’s chart, Amazon’s overall top songs, and the iTunes chart. This heartbreaking ballad is about Rodrigo’s recent heartbreak rumored to be over her costar, Joshua Bassett. In the song, she opens up about how she got her license and drives past her ex’s house without him next to her. It’s no wonder people went crazy over this beautifully raw song.

Not only were fans of the show going crazy about the song, pop legend- and Rodrigo’s musical inspiration- Taylor Swift was as well. Rodrigo posted a screenshot on her Instagram of the iTunes chart and captioned it, “next to Taylor on the US iTunes chart I’m in a puddle of tears” followed by crying emojis. Swift then commented on her post and said, “I say that’s my baby and I’m really proud.” You know you’ve made it when you have Taylor Swift saying she’s proud of you.
