Loudoun County Public Schools has reported that 20 people have tested positive for COVID. Out of the 20, eight were students, 10 were staff members, and the other two were visitors. As of December 1st, a majority of students are still distance learning in LCPS, with only 7,300 students attending in-person classes in the county. This includes third through fifth graders, and seniors at AOS and AET.

The county is still planning on offering a hybrid approach on in-person and distance learning in the beginning of January, but with cases rising it does seem a little risky. The CDC has categorized LCPS in the moderate to high risk. This is calculated by the number of new cases per 100,000 people within the last two weeks in the county and the percentage of RT-PCR tests that are positive in the last two weeks. As we do transition to a hybrid approach soon, it’s important for students, parents, teachers, etc. to be aware of any potential symptoms or exposure to the illness, so that the spread remains limited.
