For a while, the moon was considered to be dry. While water was found on the surface before, they thought it was just water from Earth that somehow made it over to the moon. Recently, however, SOFIA (NASA’s Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy) has confirmed that water is on the sunlit part of the moon. Due to this finding, many experts are eager to go back to the moon, and see it firsthand.
