Daylight Savings Come to an End

November 1st marks the day that daylight savings comes to an end. As we gain an extra hour of sleep on Sunday, those living in the states must make sure to set their clocks back an hour. The European Union, which also partakes in daylight savings, could potentially abolish the time change as the European Parliament approved a proposal to abolish it. The pandemic, however, has put this change on hold and will probably drag out the hearing until next year.

A majority of other countries do not use daylight savings, and there is much confusion on the purpose of the time change. Originally, DST was adopted two years into World War I and then reinstituted in World War II in order to minimize the use of artificial lighting to save money for the war. However in modern times, many justify the use of DST as a way to “make better use of daylight”
