Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has just won the New Zealand election with a landslide victory, with 49% of voters supporting her Labour Party. This is significant due to the nature of New Zealand’s political landscape. Traditionally, parties form joint coalitions and govern in conjunction with one another. However, this coming term, Ardern’s party will be able to do so without any alliances.
“Jacinda Ardern is just a really good person, I think that’s why so many people voted for her,” an anonymous sophomore said. “She did really well with COVID too so it makes sense that she would be reelected.”
