Boys in several high schools throughout Quebec are wearing skirts to protest discrimination against their female classmates. Majority of schools in Quebec require girls to wear skirts a maximum of 10 centimeters above their knees. However, there is no equivalent restriction for boys attending the same schools. Many boys felt this was a double standard and it hyper sexualizes girls. Furthermore, they are protesting against clothing having gender norms and feel that people should be able to wear what they feel comfortable in. The first protest was started by high school student Colin Renaud who decided to speak out by wearing a skirt to school. This sparked a movement across Quebec and protests are still happening throughout the Canadian region.
