A recent New York Times article has revealed the chronic losses and tax avoidance of President Trump. The president’s tax returns have always been somewhat of a mystery for the American people due to Trump’s reluctance to publicize them. However, the New York Time has found that in the year Trump won presidency, he only paid $750 in federal income taxes. In the last 10 years, he has made no income tax at all and this is mostly because he reported that he was losing more money than he was making.

Trump has painted a picture to the American public that he is a savvy businessman, and a majority of his supporters voted because of his business knowledge. However, these findings show a businessman who is able to procure millions of dollars a year, only to rack up chronic losses to avoid paying taxes. In response to the article, Trump’s lawyer, Alan Garten, has stressed that the facts in the article are inaccurate and is requesting for the documents used by the Times. As Trump continues to deny the allegations, many are wondering how these findings will influence the president’s support and the legality of his actions.
