Covid-19 Death Toll Hits 1 Million

The death toll for Covid-19 hit 1 million in just 10 months after it broke out in Wuhan, China. It may already have overtaken tuberculosis and hepatitis as the world’s deadliest infectious disease, and unlike all the other contenders, it is still growing fast. It also has more deaths than H.I.V., malaria, influenza, and cholera combined. Many things about the virus are still unknown, such as how the virus mutates and how fast it spreads. Many scientists question if we do come out with a vaccine, will it even work?

“For scientists it’s just the beginning,” Dr. Nelson said. “We are still just scratching the surface of this.”

All public health organizations ask people to still wear a mask and social distance to prevent the spread of the the disease, stay safe.
