Ian Serotkin, a LCPS Board Supervisor, recently posted on Facebook that LCPS is now offering “Internet Cafes” at various schools around the county. An internet cafe is a place that kids can go and log onto their online classes if they don’t have good internet connection at home. This came with a lot of backlash from parents who claimed that this was, “Hypocrisy at its finest,” as commented on his post. Parent’s claim that if schools were able to open up for these cafes, then they should be able to open up for in person teaching. Others, however, applauded the district for giving this type of access to students who needed it. One poster commented, “Thank you LCPS for helping those who are unable to get internet. This looks set up well with plenty of social distancing,” someone commented. The post can be found here.
