John Champe High School’s Winter Guard had their first competition on Saturday, January 25th, at Charlottesville High School. This year there are 2 teams that compete in different divisions, but are still both at varsity level. The Navy team is the more advanced group and they compete in Scholastic A-1. The Silver team competes in Scholastic Regional A-2. Navy got second place with Hickory High School getting first place. Silver got 1st place out of the 4 teams competing in that division. The guard has many more exciting competitions and are looking forward to a season filled with victories.

“Our show isn’t even finished yet,” junior Cristina Arnold said. “We will definitely bring more to the floor in the next few competitions.”

The Guard will be unable to perform at this years Spring Pep Rally, so they will be hosting a friends and family showcase on March 26th. Come out and support the team!

Below is this season’s competition schedule. The Navy team will be attending and performing at the World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. This is a huge opportunity so make sure we can show all of our support for this talented group of students.
