On January 21st, Miami, Florida reached temperatures in the 40s and 30s. Because of this, the National Weather Service gave an unofficial warning of “Falling Iguanas”. “Don’t be surprised if you see iguanas falling from trees tonight,” the NWS Miami tweeted. Iguanas are cold blooded meaning when the temperatures dip below 40 degrees, their blood stops moving around as fast, and they stiffen up. As more Iguanas stiffen up, they’ll start falling out of trees. This has happened before, in 2018, and for two weeks in 2010. People have been warned to not pick them up, because they could bite as soon as they warm up.
