Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan of Sussex released a big announcement saying that they are stepping down from their royal positions. “We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” the couple said in an announcement issued by Buckingham on Wednesday. They plan to balance their time between the U.K. and North America, while still teaching their son about the life of royalty.

“I never thought that [media scrutiny] would be easy, but I thought it would be fair,” Markle said to ITV

The news is somewhat of a shock to The Queen and discussions between the two parties are planned to take place in the near future to talk about the situation.
