Rick Gates, a former member of Donald Trump’s campaign, is sentenced to 45 days in jail and 3 years on probation for lying to the FBI. In addition to the jail time and probation period, Gates also has to pay a $20,000 fine and do 300 hours of community service. Gates asked for no jail time, but instead they made a compromise from a crime that should have put him in jail for six years. It was hard to overstate the amount of lies and money involved in Gate’s fraud. This scheme took more than $6 million that could have gone to American schools, roads, and veteran’s care.
