In November, Apple Inc. produced its second version of their very popular AirPods, the AirPods Pro. The new wireless earbuds come with a cushion-like piece that provides comfort as well as noise cancellation to give off immersive sound.
An outward facing microphone captures noises from around the area and counter it with equal “anti-noise”, cancelling the external sound before you hear it. An inward facing microphone listens inside your ear for unwanted sound and also uses “anti-noise” to eliminate it.
They also come with a “transparency mode” to allow users to hear things going on around them; a confusing yet impressive concept. Just press and hold the force sensor on the earbud to to deactivate noise cancellation and activate “transparency mode”. Ultimately, this idea lets outside sound in, and allows things to sound and feel natural when you’re talking to people nearby without having to remove the AirPod.
Aside from those new features, the only other differences are the size and price. The AirPod Pros seem to be much shorter than the original version for less visibility of the actual earbud as well as almost double the price which leads to a belief that they may not sell as well as Apple’s original AirPods.
