Walking for Awareness

This past Saturday, September 14, many people gathered together to participate in the annual Out of the Darkness walk. The event symbolizes suicide prevention and brings awareness to the signs we should look out for.  During the walk, families and friends who have suffered losses to suicide, as well as survivors are all honored during the opening ceremony.

“I think it’s important for people to attend to become more educated on suicide awareness as well as feeling a sense of welcomeness,” senior Caroline Trout said.  “It gives you a sense of hope that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.  It brings people together from all walks of life that have a commonality and really makes you feel like you belong.”
