Suicide Awareness Month

September is Suicide Awareness Month. September 8th to the 14th is National Suicide Awareness Week. National Suicide Awareness Day falls on September 10th.

Suicide not only affects the people who commit it, but also the people who are connected to them in some type of way.  Whether it’s a family member, you’re best friend or even the kid who sits next to you, suicide doesn’t just affect one person, but everyone who knows them. If you or anyone you know are in a suicidal crisis or emotional distress, call one of the three numbers below. They are all 24 hour, toll free lines.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is 1-800-273-8255

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline with Spanish speaking counselors is 1-888-628-9454

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline with deaf and hard of hearing options is 1-800-799-4889
