Many students at John Champe High School are furious about the new e-hall passes that are new for the 2019 school year. Some students feel like they are under pressure while in the halls because the pass times you while you are in the restroom. Other schools like Freedom High School are also participating in this. Schools are adopting the use of the passes due to students not saying the correct place they were going when telling teachers. Champe has had a lot of issues with skipping, so administration decided to use e-hall pass to help eliminate the issue. So far it’s helping, but students don’t think it’s necessary.
“I feel like we are in high school and we are responsible for ourselves and how we choose to participate in school,” said senior Devon Sutherland. “If someone decides to skip then punish them separately, don’t make other students suffer.”
