Last Friday, Champe’s band program hosted their annual percussion concert. The concert featured both Willard students and Champe students who showcased their many talents with only percussion instruments, which feature instruments such as drums, xylophones, the marimba, etc. Seniors, Charlie Duong, Cherhlyn Thompson, and Renee Boersman, each had a featured solo in the concert that left audience members stunned. Jamison Carr, one of the band directors at Champe, also featured a piece that he composed himself called “Make it to Midnight.”
“I thought it was cool that there was a concert dedicated just to percussion,” sophomore Lara Forstner laid, “especially since a lot of the times they get overlooked in favor of winds or strings.”
The concert was an overall success for the fine arts department and we can only expect Champe’s percussion ensemble to grow even more.
