The candidates for the upcoming Class Council elections now must submit their forms by April 12, instead of April 11. The change has been made due to insufficient number of candidates turning in their forms by the original deadline.
“I just had less forms in than I usually do,” Mr. Matthew Ellis said.
Once the candidate registrations are over, candidates will be able to campaign using posters, flyers, and social media posts from April 11 to May 7. Each candidate will give a speech, every word of which will be carefully vetted by the school in advance for any inappropriate contents, and the video of the speeches will be played during advisory blocks on May 6 and 7. Students will still be able to vote for the rest of that week, but only if they go down to the main office in their own time. The names of the winners, finally, will be announced on May 10. No negative campaigning, or attacking other candidates, will be allowed.
“Pep rallies, spirit week, spirit cheers are all cool, but at the end of the day, we’re all a school together,” SCA President Sohan Daniel said. “It’s all about the memories, it’s not about winning or losing.”
