This Wednesday, our rivals at Freedom High School took on Matthew Fountaine Maury High School, a team from Norfolk county, at Virginia Commonwealth University. Maury High School defeated the Freedom Eagles 57-49. For Maury High School, this is their first state title since 1927. Clarence Rupert led the Commodores (25-and-3) with 18 points. “It feels great,” said Maury coach Brandon Plummer. “I told these guys to just believe … we took some hiccups in the season but I told them to keep their faith because faith can take you a long way.”
