Rapper, 21 Savage, was released from ICE after spending nine days in their custody. Savage was arrested February 3 by ICE due to being in the United States illegally. He was brought to the United States in 2005 when he was 7 and his parents failed to renew his visa in 2006. Since his release, Savage is waiting for a U-visa which was filed in 2017. This would allow him to continue his stay in the U.S.

“Mr. Abraham-Joseph was born in the United Kingdom,” Savage’s legal team said. “Mr. Abraham-Joseph arrived legally in the United States at the age of 7.”

Savage does risk deportation, but for right now he has been granted a bond and is back in Atlanta with his mom. His lawyers say that Savage is a Dreamer since he was a minor when he came to the U.S. The DREAM Act allows immigrant minors in the U.S. a conditional residency and possible permanent residency. With the reassuring support from his fans and fellow celebrities, Savage is not alone in his fight.
