A couple of years ago, senior Rachel Koh brought the Dressember Foundation fundraiser to Champe. The Dressember Foundation raises awareness on the issue of human trafficking while encouraging its participants to wear a dress or tie for the entire month of December. Koh inspired many when she wore a dress everyday during December in order to raise money to stop human trafficking.

This year, co-presidents Rachel Koh, Sarah Rackoski, and Paige Hipes are leading the Human Trafficking Awareness Club (HTAC). They have recruited and inspired many students to join the fight to end human trafficking. The club is hosting a Winterfest event on December 15th in order to raise money, and they are working on doing more events and fundraisers year round. They created a team called Nova For Freedom that includes high schoolers from this area; the group is hoping to raise $7,000 as a team to help fund a rescue mission. Girls participate in Dressember by wearing a dress everyday, whereas guys can wear a bowtie or tie. It has been a few days since the start of December, and the Nova For Freedom team has already raised $1,339.00.
