White House Christmas Decor

Twitter went abuzz yesterday after Melania Trump unveiled the 2018 White House Christmas decorations featuring some eye catching red trees. Many Twitter users were quick to point out parallels to popular works of horror.

“Here Melania-someone fixed the red trees for you,” tweeted user Tiny Dancer in a clear allusion to The Handmaid’s Tale.

It is not the first time Trump has faced criticism for the White House Christmas decorations. Many recall last year when Trump opted to go with bare white trees with spooky lights illuminating them. As they did this year, Twitter users turned the decorations into memes, some even saying that the decor was reminiscent of The Shining.

The decorations are not all bad, however, as a wreath made of pencils from Trump’s “Be Best” anti-bullying campaign was also among the holiday decor. Whether people view the decorations in a good light or a bad one, people seem to agree that they are a good source of amusement and inspiration for the holiday season.
