Every year around winter time, students at John Champe and other Loudoun County schools ask one common question: Where is Wayde? In other words, everyone is waiting for County Public Information Officer Wayde Byard to call their households to notify them the schools are closed due to the weather. This Wednesday, he called.
“Loudoun County Public Schools will be closed on Thursday, November 15, 2018,” Loudoun County Public Schools tweeted on Wednesday, “because of the impending bad weather. Administrative Offices also will be closed.”
This was followed by series of posts of celebration on social media by John Champe students. One of them had photoshopped the face of Byard into the painting of God, a metaphor for their praise for the decision. Like one Fairfax County parent tweeted, the closure was an exciting news for many.
“Everyone loves a snow day!” the parent tweeted.
Students and teachers around the county got their second call last night announcing that schools would open two hours late today, Friday, November 16.
