This Tuesday, CNN announced that they are suing the Trump administration in order to reinstate the press credentials of Jim Acosta, CNN’s chief White House correspondent. Last week Acosta and President Trump clashed at a formal news conference when Acosta asked about the Russian investigation and immigration. Trump, who tried to dismiss Acosta’s questions, defaming CNN and Acosta himself in front of other journalists. Trump is now saying that removing Acosta’s press credentials is justified. However, people are arguing that it goes against the First Amendment, which allows the right to freely report the government. People are also angered because they think that the White House edited the footage of the news conference to look like Acosta pushed the person trying to take the microphone away from him.

“Don’t believe the lies coming from the WH. Believe in our freedoms. Thank you all for your support. We won’t back down,” Acosta tweeted on November eight.

Many reporters at CNN have been getting into altercations with Trump in the past few weeks. In addition to that, something that surprised many people was Fox News’ take on the whole situation. Fox News shared that they are on CNN’s side and are joining the fight over press access in the White House.
