Thousand Oaks Tragedy

Wednesday night, another tragedy has struck America again. A gunman, now being identified as a marine corps veteran, opened fire at 11:20pm at a local bar right outside of Los Angeles. The bar was hosting it’s weekly country college night, which meant a younger crowd was present as it is located near California Lutheran University and several other schools. The gunman fatally shot at least 12 people and injured up to 15 other people; their names have yet to be released.

In addition to the 12+ casualties, the shooter, Ian Long, also fired at police officers when they arrived, killing Sgt. Ron Helus, the sheriffs deputy. No motive has been found yet but officer’s report that Long was dead on the scene, still unclear as to whether or not it was by suicide.

President Trump later ordered that the US flag be flown at half-staff at the White House and all public and military buildings until Saturday evening.
