Around the world, employees at Google’s various offices have staged a series of walkouts to protest their company’s treatment of women. These walkouts have occured at various headquarters, including London, Tokyo, New York, and Berlin.
“We’re walking out to support colleagues in any workplace that have suffered harassment,” said Web Developer Sam Dutton in a statement to BBC. “[We want] to ensure that perpetrators aren’t protected or rewarded.”
These walkouts happened as a result of a New York Times report that alleged that a high-profile executive received a 90 million dollar payout after he left the company.
“I understand the anger and disappointment that many of you feel,” said Google Chief executive Sundar Pichai an all-staff email. “I am fully committed to making progress on an issue that has persisted for far too long in our society…and here at Google”
