Post Powderpuff

The showdown of the year between the junior and the senior classes went down on Wednesday night.

The seniors started out with a couple touchdowns, leading in the first half, and then the juniors recovered and came back tying 18-18 at the end of the first half. After that, it was a back and forth fight. Every time the senior girls scored a touchdown, the juniors fought back and scored one too. The senior boys cheerleading team performed a “dance” during halftime trying to encourage the senior girls. The two teams were tied by the end of the second half, so the game went into overtime. This is when things got intense. The seniors got a penalty for holding a player, and both teams were rushing which led to bad passes or false starts. It was a fight until the end, but the junior class ended up winning 38-32.

This was upsetting for the senior class because they had won their junior year. The senior team felt a lot of frustration, as they felt if the clock kept running like it was supposed to they would have won. They also felt that the juniors were given too many chances to beat them. Both sides felt like the game had too many rules regarding “pushing” players.

Either way, a big congrats to the junior class.

“I’m not mad we lost, I am just glad we all had fun playing together,” said senior Noor Mualla. “We all worked hard so we both deserved to win.”
