Controversy is My Middle Name

Kanye West’s name has been in the news quite a lot these past few days. He definitely is the center of a lot of controversies that people see on the news. West was a guest appearance on Saturday Night Live’s recent show on September 29.  Sporting a “Make America Great Again” hat, West performed his latest song with rapper Lil Pump titled ‘I Love It’. However, West stopped the performance to talk about his opinions on President Trump.

“‘How could you like Trump, he’s racist?’ West said in his speech. “‘Well if I was concerned about racism, I would have moved out of America a long time ago.'”

Although his speech did not appear on viewer’s TVs, many saw what took place thanks to Chris Rock’s Instagram. Many stars on SNL were unhappy with West due to his attire and his speech. Star Wars actor Adam Driver was obviously very unhappy with having to stand next to West while he wore the hat. After West’s speech, many stars took to Twitter and Instagram to share their feelings about the whole situation. The Roots drummer, Questlove, shared his feelings in a simple Tweet by telling people to check out Chris Rock’s Instagram. To take this even further, West took to Twitter to share more of his feelings. In his tweet, West posted a picture of him once again sporting the “Make America Great Again” hat, however, this time it was the caption that got people upset.

“‘This represents good and America becoming whole again,’ the caption read. ‘We will no longer outsource to other countries. We [will] build factories here in America and create jobs.  We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.'”

The 13th amendment abolished slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for certain crimes. Many people are asking West why exactly he said what he said especially since he is an African American man.
