This Thursday evening is Champe volleyball’s annual ‘Dig Pink’ event. JV and varsity volleyball will host Rock Ridge while raising money to benefit The Side- Out Foundation.

The Side- Out Foundation is based out of Fairfax and it is a non-profit organization that raises awareness and funds for the treatment of metastatic breast cancer. They mostly raise money through volleyball related events. Dig Pink is their nationwide movement that aims to provide impactful experiences for athletes while supporting the stage IV breast cancer community.

Along with the volleyball games, there will be an extensive raffle, with some of the prizes being tickets for the Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals, along with other gifts donated by local businesses in the community.

The JV game will start at 5:45 p.m., and the varsity game at 7 p.m. Admission is $6.

“‘Dig Pink’ is one of my favorite times during volleyball season because we get to play for a cause,” senior Natalie Reader said. “Not only do I get to play the sport I love, I get to play for a charity that helps so many people including a member of my family who was diagnosed. We do a raffle to raise even more money than ticket sales and also deck the gym out in so much pink it almost hurts.”
