Volunteers for Out of the Darkness Walk

Suicide is an epidemic that has plagued this country for years, and has especially plagued teenagers. For years, organizations were founded in order to combat this disease. The Out of the Darkness walk is a fundraiser used to provide money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The community would walk overnight in order to raise funds, and the walks take place in many other states. This year, the Leesburg Out of the Darkness walk is happening on September 16th, at Ida Lee Park.

“John Champe High School has created a team to walk out of the darkness and against suicide,”  the director of counseling Christi Campbell wrote in an email to the JCHS staff. “Darkness community walks are proof that when people work together, they can make big changes in our world. ”

The registration begins at 12:00 pm. The walk will start at 1:00 pm and end at 3:00 pm.
