Champe is experiencing a lot of changes this year. One of the changes that will have the biggest effect on students is the new tardy policy. Students feel that the new policy is too strict and unnecessary. According to the policy, students start off with two warnings. However, by the third unexcused tardy, they will get detention. In addition to that, the school is getting more strict on what counts as an ‘unexcused’ tardy. For example, if there is construction or car problems, it will still be recorded as unexcused.
Many students are expressing their disapproval with the new changes. For a lot of students, it has been difficult with adjusting to the new changes, mainly because students feel that they are really restricting. However, students hope that there will be good changes to balance out the bad.
“It just feels very unnecessary,” says sophomore Trang Bui. “I feel like they’re being a lot more strict and I don’t like it.”
