Parking Passes

You get your license after going through a week of Behind the Wheel, you get excited that you can drive on you own, and most importantly, you get your own car. In another words, you can finally drive to school. Now there’s one more thing you have to take care of: buying a parking pass. Sometimes, at least.  There has been debate on whether they’re truly necessary.

To pay for the entire year of parking at JCHS, it’s $200. For a half of the semester, it’s $100. Teens who have licenses tend to hold off on paying for the passes and not drive to school. However, sometimes teens park their cars in the lots anyway. When it comes to paying for the pass, you could do it either online or pay with a form given on the first day of school.

The good thing about parking passes is that they prevent the parking lots from getting overfilled, allowing people who do drive and have a permit to find a spot easily. Another thing is the public parking lots are far from the school, making it necessary to get a pass to get closer to the school. However, the price of the parking lot is arguably hefty, which is why students hold off from paying for it. Another reason is because you have to pay for them each year. If you’re a sophomore and you just got your license, you’ll basically be paying $600 dollars (assuming you get the license before school starts).

In conclusion, parking passes are what they are. They allow students to essentially drive to school. Unless somehow there’s an alternative for parking passes, they’re here to stay.
