Entry 1 (9/5/2022):
Even though a garlic scape looks the same as other vegetables its shape and form makes it unique. but its smell makes it quite different which is what I like about it it. It’s smells bold and attracts people to notice it but yet turns people away. I like garlic its taste brings an addition to any dish and its aroma makes a dish smells great. On Saturday I went to a farmers market and before we left we were greeted by a familiar face the garlic man. The garlic man comes every Saturday with his wife to promote their garlic business. I personally have never met the garic man and have only heard stories from my mother and sister. As soon as we got to the stand he greeted us with nice words and smiles. He then went on to talk about how he grew the garic differently this batch then the last, and he even showed us the garlic salt that he made. After 3 minutes of talking to him we were buy bags of different types of garlic and garlic salt. He even told us that him and his wife were making garlic lotion which I thought was quite eccentric but cool. He also invited us to his farm to personally pick out some garlic and see their farm with cows. I guess garlic truly does bring us together.
Entry 2 (9/6/2022):
Even though garlic scapes are small they bring so much flavor to a dish. Garlic scapes bring a nice aroma as well as a mellowing taste. I love garlic scapes because they are an easier access to getting a garlic flavor than opening up an ordinary garlic clove. To open a garlic scape all u have to do is cut it with scissors and add it to a dish. Just a hint of it in a dish makes a big difference. If anyone has never tried or added garlic scapes into a dish they should because it’s a flavor that’ll change your food for the better.
I’d love to see the garlic man’s organic object entries! Yours are excellent, too, moving from the lore of the garlic man to your actual meeting with him and his wares. Nice touch there with the cows, and nice to know that the garlic man isn’t all about garlic.
