The beginning of this book is very intense and draws you in almost immediately. Latifa, a girl that lives in Kabul, has to deal with the Taliban making her a prisoner of her home. Latifa tells her point of view of the Taliban taking over. She goes into detail and explains all the gruesome events that happened in Kabul in the late 90’s. Will Latifa leave her home?

I agree, the book has a very intense beginning and the events that happen are gruesome and hard to believe that it actually happened. It’s amazing how she remembers all of it clearly. I wonder the same, will she leave?
