Avengers Infinity War Review- Spoiler Alert

Wow. Avengers Infinity War was a spectacular movie to watch in theaters, as I saw the movie twice. Even after the second time, the ending still got me. In an ending that saw Thanos, the villain, acquire all the infinity stones and win was very shocking. What shocked audiences even more were the deaths of Loki, Gamora, Vision, Black Panther, and even Spider-man. Yes, you heard that correctly Spider-man. In a heartbreaking scene, Spider-man has an improvised moment with Tony Stark saying, “He doesn’t want to go.” More than half of the superheroes were erased from existence leaving the others wondering what was going on. It was a crazy ending leaving audiences wanting more. Themovie was fast paced, exciting, and heartbreaking at certain points and I am so glad I had the opportunity to see this movie. Thanos was a compelling villain that made audiences empathize for him and fear him all at the same time.

Overall I give this movie an 11/10 as I can’t wait for the next one to come out.

Best Actor Prediction- Oscars #1

Starting off my Oscar Predictions I’ve decided to go with the category of best actor for episode 1.

The nominees are:

Timothee Chalamet- Call me by Your Name

Denzel Washington- Roman J Israel Esq.

Gary Oldman- Darkest Hour

Daniel Kaluuya- Get Out

Daniel Day Lewis- Phantom Thread

My prediction is that Gary Oldman will win due to the fact that he is playing a historical figure, which the academy enjoys. I also feel that it is more a career Oscar to reward him for a great career. Although it’s the last movie for Daniel Day Lewis before he retires, I don’t believe he will win. A personal favorite of mine is Timothee Chalamet who I hope will pull out an upset. He would be the youngest to ever win best actor and I feel his performance outshined all others this year. Since he’s young and has plenty of opportunities to win an Oscar in the future, the academy will not give him the award this year. Gary Oldman is most likely the winner of the Best Actor as he’s sweeped all the major award ceremonies.

Classic Movie Review #1 – Taxi Driver

This week I had the chance to watch one of the greatest movies of all time and a classic movie in pop culture. Taxi Driver. The movie was really chilling with the story focusing on a ex-marine who becomes a taxi driver because of his insomnia. His loneliness and mental illness sends him down a dark path towards destruction which makes for a terrific character arc. Robert DeNiro played the part perfectly exemplifying one of the greatest acting performances I’ve ever seen. I was blown away watching DeNiro on screen and I still  have the line “You talking to me?” stuck in my head. The movie is very confusing, but if you understand the dark concepts in the movie, it’s an incredible movie experience.

DK Films – 1

This month in movies, the long awaited Star Wars: The Last Jedi came out in theaters. It’s standing tall with $45 million made on the opening day. This inspired me to tell you guys my Do’s and Don’ts movies to watch.

Do’s-

Star Wars: The Last Jedi [PG-13]

Coco [PG]

Wonder [PG]

The Disaster Artist [R]

Dont’s-

Justice League [PG-13]

A Bad Mom’s Christmas [R]

Justice League was an utter disaster at the box-office while The Disaster Artist, the story of the making of The Room, is a critical hit with critical praise for James Franco’s performance. Coco was also well received as a brilliant family movie. Exciting news for Netflix fans as Guardians of the Galaxy 2 just arrived and more movies are on their way in January. Also exciting news for Marvel fans as the Disney-Fox merger will pave the way for the X-men and other Marvel characters such as Deadpool and Wolverine to join the MCU. This is an exciting time for movies as awards season is impending. Stay tuned for my next blog on my review of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars Movie Review–spoiler warning

Over Winter break I had the great pleasure in seeing Star Wars: The Last Jedi. To sum it up the movie was quite spectacular. Cinematography was amazing, storyline was amazing. The only problem people had with the movie was the portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the movie. Many didn’t like how he grew cynical of the Jedi and was pessimistic about the Rebellion. Even the actor disagreed with the directors vision. (Spoilers!!) Fans also didn’t enjoy the death of the original protagonist Luke Skywalker. I personally felt it wasn’t the best, but I still enjoyed the movie. The character development of Ben Solo a.k.a Kylo Ren is incredible. He has ties to the light side, but the dark side in him is blocking the good which intrigues me. Throughout the movie the good in him lets him do the right thing in crucial parts (not killing Leia and killing supreme leader snoke). Overall the movie was a terrific time in theaters that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout.

Rating: 9/10
