37.3 Million Americans have diabetes. All of these people live in constant stress and anxiety. The thought of not keeping your blood sugar in the tight ideal range is overwhelming. Technology has been created to help the lives of these people, but more can be done. Things like insulin pens, insulin pumps, dexcom are all things that are options for people to help monitor their diabetes. However, with no insurance, these items are virtually impossible to get your hands on. These technology need to be more accessible to the American people. It is impossible to monitor and keep your diabetes in check without any of this necessary technology. This poem speaks to me because it shows how tough and strenuous it is to take good health of yourself with diabetes. Technology in the medical world has been improving and needs to continue to improve if we want to keep the American citizens safe and healthy.

Excellent work in drawing people’s attention to a very real issue. It is of the utmost importance to have health insurance that is affordable, as everyone has the right to obtain the necessary care for their own health. In addition to making diabetes health care and technology available to diabetic patients, I believe that medical developments in technology should be made available to any and all patients, regardless of the nature of their ailment. If there is already technology that can make people’s lives better, then no one should have to go without.
I thought that it was very smart to include the poem and facts about diabetes at the beginning of your writing. This will help the audience become more empathetic to diabetics and more likely to promote change. I agree that such technology needs to be more accessible, and a possible solution may be to invent a cheap yet effective option.
I really love how you start out with the fact that 37 million people have diabetes, I think it really grabs the reader’s attention being such a large number. I agree that the new technology most definitely needs to be available for everyone regardless if they have health insurance because diabetes is a very life threatening condition.
This is really good, I love how inspirational it was. I saw a story about a young man, he died of diabetes because him and his family wasn’t able to afford it. It is very expensive and should not be as much as the put it. Diabetes is very scary and can have a huge affect on the person and families lives.
I love how you included the exact tools and technology necessary to a better, safer, and easier life for people with diabetes. I like how you not only named what needs to happen, but you explained WHY it was happening. I did not know how hard it was for diabetics to get their hands on the 3 most common and effective tools to monitor diabetes. (insulin pump, insulin pen, and dexcom.)
I love the poem at the beginning of the writing as it shows how much people with diabetes wish it could just go away. I think you do a great job describing what currently is accessible for people with diabetes and then elaborate on how hard it is to get. I agree with you that it needs to be available to people who cannot afford the insurance as they still need to live.
I really love the poem, because it is very inspirational. Your topic is a very real issue in today’s world. Diabetes is something many people live with daily, and affording the medicine isn’t something a lot of people can do. Very good topic!
