In the last week, many of Freedom’s athletic teams have continued to come out victorious in various games, matches and meets.

Last Friday, all of the FHS basketball teams took on their biggest rival, the John Champe Knights, in a series of home games. These games were part of the Gold Rush, one of DECA’s annual events in which students and teachers could purchase shirts that would get them free admission to the games, and all the proceeds went to charity.

The freshman girls basketball team played a very close game, starting the 4th quarter down by only one point, 14-15. The JV girls played hard but had a tough loss, with a final score of 25-48, but the girls Varsity team had a massive victory over the Knights. Their final score was 61-28.

The freshman boys basketball team came away with a win, beating Champe 55-37, the JV boys won 60-41, and the Varsity Boys finished up the night strong with a 69-33 win over the Knights.

Then, on January 8th, the Varsity girls, JV girls and Varsity boys basketball teams took on the Stone Bridge Bulldogs and came out victorious. The Lady Eagles Varsity and JV teams also won tonight, January 11th, which allowed the Varsity team to retain their undefeated record.
