Trevor Noah narrates his own story of growing up in South Africa during Apartheid. He was “born a crime”, as he was born to a white Swiss father and a black mother, Xhosa during a time when such an union was forbidden. During his childhood, he was kept inside hidden by the world. Finally, when South Africa was liberated he was able to live freely.
Trevor tells his story with humor, humility, and rawness. He is a survivor as he lived through poverty, abuse, his mother’s religious ways, and crazy living situations.
I enjoyed reading this book and recommend it. I hear the audio book is fantastic as Trevor himself narrates it.
