13 Little Blue Envelopes by maureen johnson

I13 Little Blue Envelopes (Little Blue Envelope, #1) was very excited to read this book as the concept behind it sounded so appealing. Ginny Blackstone’s aunt has past away and has left her 13 little blue envelopes. Each envelope contains a letter from her aunt with a task for her to do. The first contains a $1000, directions to pack a backpack of clothes and buy a plane ticket to London. The following envelopes lead her throughout Europe to meet various people, visit museums, visit cultural places, go to restaurants, see cities, etc. The part of the book that fell flat for me was the overall development. Ginny was not in each place long enough so the people she meet were not well developed characteristically. Then – SPOILER ALERT the last envelope is stolen along with all of Ginny’s belongings thus she calls the first person she met in London, Richard, who gets her a plane ticket to fly back to London. There the story line wraps up in a rather underwhelming way. There is a second book that finishes the story as Ginny gets her backpack back mysterially and is able to read the final letter. I may read as I am partially interested in how the story ends.
